WHAT IS AWS?

AWS stands for Amazon Web Services which is comprehensive and bundled evolving computing service that is used to provide infrastructure for cloud computing over the Internet with properties like bandwidth, storage and customized support for mainly application programming interfaces (API).

It was officially launched in 2006 and is a pioneer concept of the global magnate Amazon Inc. It has today grown into a cost-effective and innovative cloud solutions provider. AWS (Amazon Web Services) works on the same infrastructure used as the host of Amazon’s other properties on the Web, for example Webstore. 

Amazon has packaged AWS (Amazon Web Services) with a scalable and almost virtually unlimited in terms of computing capacities, bandwidth and storage resources. AWS (Amazon Web Services) uses a subscription pricing model implementing pay for what you use or pay as you go.

SERVICES INCLUDED IN AWS

AWS (Amazon Web Services) includes services like EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon CloudFront, Amazon RDS, Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon SNS, Amazon SQS and Amazon VPC.

Among the mentioned services, Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3 are considered to be the two cores or main Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services and are used extensively by cloud solution application developers around the world.

METHODS INVOLVED IN AMAZON WEB SERVICES (AWS)

There are many services involved that make up Amazon Web Services (AWS) portfolio, including services for databases, computing, security, application development and infrastructure management.

Amazon Elastic Computer Cloud (EC2) provides for virtual servers called instances for computing capacity. This service offers many instance types with varying sizes and capacities tailored for specific types of workloads and applications for example, accelerated computing and memory intensive jobs. AWS also provides for an Auto Scaling tool that helps to dynamically scale capacity for maintenance of performance and instance health.

Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) provides for scalable storage of objects for archival of data, data backup and analytics. An IT professional usually stores files and data as S3 objects inside S3 buckets to keep the said objects organized. 

A business or company can save money via S3 by using Infrequent Access tier of storage or utilize Amazon Glacier for long-term purposes of cold storage. Amazon Elastic File System offers highly managed file storage that is cloud-based. 

A business or organization can also migrate its data to the cloud through storage, transport devices like AWS Snowball and Snowmobile or utilize AWS Storage Gateway to help enable apps on premises to access data on the cloud.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides highly managed database services via the Amazon Relational Database Service, which also has options included in SQL Server, Oracle, MariaDB, MySQL etc. and also a high-performance proprietary database called Amazon Aurora. A developer can also take advantage and utilize AWS command-line services and software development kits to manage and deploy applications.
